3 1/4" X 3 5/8". World War II era U.S. Army 17th Armored Division patch. Never activated. Fully machine embroidered. Condition is fair to poor overall. Patch had been glued into a scrapbook then tacked to a board. T are three small holes around the edge with a very small round "dent" from the head of the tack. The colors may appear to be a bit washed out in the pictures but this is from my lighting, the actual colors are still very strong with no fading. This patch shows much wear, especially to the edge (see photographs). The front of the patch is a bit dirty and shows several small light and dark spots that are probably glue. The back of the patch has very heavy glue residue that is very dry and cracks easily when gently flexed.I had been told that if gently steam the patch the dents from the tacks may rise out. I have never tried this and can't recommend it. I also received an email from a winner of another auction with the following advice:"I soaked it in Dreft baby detergent and cold water for 24 hours, while wet I gently closed the tiny hole and played with the thumbtack imprint and air dried flat on a paper towel. It does look better, not new, but better. The soaking also removed the glue. If you ever try this method, be warned, that I've noticed that t is a very slight bleeding of red dyes on WW2 patches. But, the final results read more
