You are bidding on the 1954 cruise book of the USS Bremerton (CA-130). This book is part of the estate of my father-in-law, Dean Howland. Dean was a Fire Control Technician Third Class who made three Far East tours on the Bremerton, two during the Korean Conflict. The book (12" X 8.5") has been stored in a cedar chest for more than 50 years and is in excellent condition. The book contains identified crew photos and itinerary. USS Bremerton (CA-130), 1945-1974USS Bremerton , a 13,600-ton Baltimore class heavy cruiser built at Camden , New Jersey , was commissioned in April 1945. She operated in the Atlantic for most of that year then steamed to the Pacific, w she was to spend the rest of her days. The cruiser deployed to the Far East in late 1945, remaining t until November 1946. Following training operations in the eastern Pacific, Bremerton decommissioned at San Francisco , California , in April 1948. Brought back into active service during the Korean War , Bremerton recommissioned in November 1951. She made two combat cruises to the war zone in 1952 and 1953, providing heavy gunfire support for the United Nations forces fighting in Korea . After the Korean armistice, Bremerton carried out a regular pattern of Seventh Fleet deployments that lasted through the end of the decade.
