This is my first kit made mostly out of antique components. It was a little more expensive to make, but I think it adds to the authenticity. The kit includes everything you need to either hunt down or protect yourself from the Creatures of the night. Kits like these were sold by gypsies to wary travelers who would journey the Transylvanian region. They were also produced as novelties during the late Victorian area. This would make a great gift for any Twilight, Buffy, or Wolfman fan. Also makes a great conversational piece. It is very creepy and authentic; similar to ones you would see at Ripley’s. Kit includes: 2-Tone Wooden Box Antique German or French Silver-Plated Crucifix (from last rights box) Wooden Mallet 2 Sharpened Wooden Stakes Vintage Crossbow 4 Stake Arrows Antique Replica Belgian Double-Barrel Percussion Pistol (from the 1800’s) Antique Powder Horn (priming horn) 24 .36 cal lead balls Antique Percussion Cap Tin (never opened) Ramrod Crude Antique Knife Holy Water Bottle Vintage Brass Compass Vintage Pocket Watch Victorian Nun’s Crucifix Necklace Antique Hand Mirror Poison Bottle Garlic Bulb Antique Vile filled with Garlic Powder Antique Vile filled with Devil’s Shoe String (Comfrey Root) Antique Prayer Book Antique Coffin Nails 2 Candles with Matches Everything is made from wood, glass, metal, or leather. There is little plastic involved. I tried to keep things as accurate as possible. The box was a vintage wine box stained in red mahogany and ebony. Everything fits tight and flawlessly. The box itself measures 12” x 10” x 3 ½” without the crossbow holster. The crossbow pistol is definitely old. I’m not sure how old, there’s metal and wood wear that only age can do. It’s fully functional. The bow has about a 5 -10 lb draw. Very fun to shoot. It measures 17 inches long with a 15 ¼” bow. It fits on the top of the kit and is held in place by a leather string. The crossbow comes with 4 wooden stake arrows. The fletchings are made out of woodpecker feathers. The pistol is just a replica actually from the 1850’s. It’s a replica of a double barrel Belgian Derringer. It’s made of metal and features a 1 –piece checkered wooden grip. THE PISTOL IS NON-FUCTIONING . The action does work although one of the hammers is half gone. It has double triggers. The pistol measures 7 ½” long. It comes with twenty four .36 cal. lead balls, antique bullet mold (from the 1800’s), antique priming powder horn and a wooden ramrod. There’s also an antique percussion primer cap tin (never been opened and has original paper seal). Again: Replica Gun. Cannot be made to fire projectiles. Comes with a Permanent BLAZE ORANGE BARREL PLUGS perminently affixed to barrels. The mallet is hand-made. It’s sturdy and functional. It comes with 2 sharpen wooden stakes (each have a small metal cross attached). The antique crucifix is made of metal and I believe was silver plated. It was from a Victorian-Era sick call or last rights kit. The cross appears to be either German or French. It can be removed from the inside of the lid. Under the crucifix is a compartment with a cross necklace. The cross is an ebony wood Nun’s Crucifix from the late 19th Century. The leather chain is a replacement. The lid also has 2 candles that fit into wooden candle holders. This is purely decorative. Please do not keep the candles lit for too long (you know wood burns). The wooden stakes each have a pewter cross attached to them. They also attach to the inside lid. The antique metal mirror has a 2 inch diameter. It looks like it could also be silver plated.
