Classic cold cast porcelain Vampirella statue sculpted by Susumu Sugita and manufatured by Moore Creations in 1999. Quite simply one of the very best Vampirella statues ever. Limited edition of 2700 hand painted pieces. Long ago sold out.Every angle, line and curve on her is gorgeous. The balance of her pose is just spectacular. It's amazing that she's actually quite simple in design, yet she's so damn powerful. Her paint is simple also- there's virtually no shading. I think this works big time- allows the lighting to do the work- as it should be. So many paint jobs are way overdone -even the very good ones- especially when it comes to skin. A great sculpt then becomes overwhelmed by the paint. Not the case here. The way her head is tilted ever so slightly forward, the expression on her face and look in her eyes are just too cool. You really have to see her in person to fully appreciate her. I've seen and taken tons of photos and they just don't capture her- especially her face. In many close up photos I've seen, to me, her face looks overly cartoonish, and her right hand and fingers look a little off, as well. When you see her in person, all that goes away. At least it does on this specific piece. Undoubtedly eye paint application will vary somewhat on each individual sculpture within the edition. Perhaps I just got lucky on this one. In photos I've seen of others, the forefinger on her right hand appears not only somewhat 'stiff', but also comparatively rather 'thick'. On this specific sculpture, the hand and fingers look as they should. Again, perhaps I got lucky. Or perhaps she simply doesn't photograph well close up... An absolutely perfect phrase to describe her would be 'There's just something about her'. She truly looks like a Vampire- even though her fangs aren't visible. Incredibly seductive but also extremely menacing. But in a quiet sort of way. It just occurred to me that one of her biggest strengths is the fact that she's actually very subtle. There isn't a single element to her that is overdone. Yeah, yeah- her body sculpt is 'to die for' (get it?), but it's her head, and her eyes that make this piece so very special. There are a lot of Vampirella statues out there- some really nice ones too. The new one from Sideshow is extremely impressive, in my opinion. Still, this one definitely stands alone- in ways I can't fully explain. If I were to choose a word to best describe her, it would be 'Hypnotic'. What I love most about her is that, without question, I've enjoyed her more and more the longer I've had her. And that's huge. Frankly, it's difficult to let her go. I'm the original owner of this piece. With the exception of a few tiny scratch marks on her left elbow (see photo #12), She's flawless. The scratches are in the paint only and not at all deep. In other words, she's not chipped. They could very easily be touched up if they bothered one- they didn't bother me at all. Her overall height is exactly 14". Her overall width (from elbow to elbow) is 5 1/4". Her overall depth (from rear of protruding tombstone on base to front of base) is 4 1/2". I do not have the original box or packaging. I'm charging a flat rate of $15 to ship her. She will be extremely well packed.
