âe(tm)s a wonderful Vernon Kilns plate of my Alma Materâe"the University of Kansas! Of course, KU is also the home of the NCAA Basketball championship Kansas Jayhawks!!! Generally referred to as "KU", this plate shows several major sites on the campus, including the Campanile, Hoch Auditorium, and famous Fraser Hall, which can be seen for miles around. The rim is decorated with Sunflowers (the state flower of Kansas) and the mythical Jayhawk, the KU mascot. This plate is made on the Ultra shape, and glazed in brown. It measures 10 1/2" in diameter. The backstamp gives a brief history of KU, and includes the Vernon Kilns trademark. This plate was made exclusively for the University of Kansas Alumni Association around 1951.
