AMERICAN BRILLIANT CUT GLASSPITCHER PRIMROSE PATTERN VERY RARE 2-2 SIGNED TUTHILL This lovely pitcher is cut in the very rare 2-2 Primrose pattern and signed by Tuthill (signature is faint). The Tuthill Glass Company operated out of Corning, New York from 1895-1900 and then in Middletown, New York from 1900-1923. The Tuthill name was held in high esteem and had a reputation for high quality. This piece and pattern can be viewed in the pages following chapter 10 in the " The Rich Cut Glass of Charles GuernseyTuthill" by Maurice Crofford. Pearson rated this pattern a 2-2. The first two is for being very rare in rarity. The second two is for being one of the most desirable in quality/price. This piece measures approx. 8" tall and is 7 ¾" wide from spout to handle. It weighs approx. 4 lbs. 11 oz. T is a sawtooth cut on the top edge. The spout is wide and is paneled and notched. The handle is cut with St. Louis Diamonds. On the body of this piece, t are three panels that are engraved with a long stem that has a pretty primrose at the top, beautiful flowing leaves and several clusters of not-yet-bloomed primroses. Between these panels are panels of 16 pt stars that are separated by miter crosses and hexagons that are filled with crosshatching. The base is cut with a large 24 pt rayed star. It is signed "Tuthill" on the base, but it read more
