Presentation of the wedding bands in a marriage ceremony has been a custom in thousands of cultural traditions. The keepsake of such had never been more perfectly depicted as with the satin edged glass box tradition of the Czechs which first surfaced prior to the Victorian era. As custom, the bride's family would enter agreement with the glass maker regarding the dimensions and her mother would traditionally hand stitch the fine silk ribbon to edges...affixing corners, edges and padding the bottom and inner surface. A soft silk pillow would rest in center which would be the nestling spot of the wedding bands presented in the marriage ceremony. This tradition has long faded and the silk edged glass wedding ring boxes of yesteryear as well. But, once in a blue moon you can happen onto one. Such is presented in. The box is completely hand made ... from the 5 hand blown glass pieces to the exquisite silk ribbon and tassels. Triangular in shape, it measures 6" horizontally at each side and 2 1/2" vertically. A thin wood base reinforces bottom. Each jointed edge is hand stitched. No adhesives or glues were utilized and the item is a piece of art in skilled engineered dynamics!
