This is a beautiful Victorian silver Scottish carnelian agate brooch.I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found. The beautiful stone used for this brooch is a classic quality carnelian agate from Cupar in Fife. The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for brooches of this period, but has been tested and is silver. The length is 3.2 cm and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
