You are bidding on the beautiful victorian walnut/poplar antique church pew pictured...it has been given several coats of satin finish oil to bring out the lustre and sheen that only walnut can produce. The end panels are of solid walnut; the seat back and seat are of poplar with walnut trim. The long drop piece under the seat helps to date the pew to the 1850's and is also made of poplar. Square hand forged nails were used in its construction. When originally made, the seat back and seat had a satin upholstery, but that had deteriorated beyond repair with dry rot due to the age of the pew. The new owner could very easily have the pew reupholstered if desired, but it looks very good as presented now. The length of the pew is 45 inches; the end panels are 45 1/2 inches high and the pew will stick out from the wall 19 inches. The trim at the base of both end panels is not original but was fabricated from walnut and poplar that was a part of the original pew. I have pictured the base trim for you so you can see how well it matches with the pew end panels. One end panel includes the original brass plate with the number 3 engraved on it. This is the last of seven of these pews; the others are all in their new homes!
