What is Splashed Alox You Ask? When talking about a SwissBianco +B knife being "splashed", we are referring to the exterior finish of the aluminum(alox) scales, or handles, of the knife. Splashing is a specialized form of anodizing that is used to give a more colorful and spectacular appearance to high end, collectible and custom products that are made in part of aluminum components. Anodizing is an electrolytic passivization process that is used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of aluminum and other metals. Anodizing increases corrosion and wear resistance while also allowing for the absorption of dyes.
