Welcome to this auction from ittsy-lectric. On offer is a Vintage Murphy Table Radio. Model number: A252. Manufactured by Murphy Radio Limited in 1956 and in nice working condition. This radio has had very little use during its lifetime. Cosmetically, the Veneered cabinet is in good condition with just a few slight age related marks as you would expect from its 50+ years of use. The glass dial is also in very good condition although there are some slight marks to the left hand control knob [as per photo's]. Electrically, this 5 valve + rectifier + Magic eye set covers LW, MW, SW and VHF and works perfectly on all wavebands. [LW-1000~2000, MW- 200~550, SW- 20~50 (16m~49m), VHF- 87~100 MC/S]. Although an external aerial for VHF and AM reception in certain geographical regions would be an advantage. The magic eye, although working is low on emission. There are separate on/off/tone, volume, tuning and wave change controls. On the rear are sockets for aerial and earth, gram [PU] and extension speaker. The aerial socket for VHF is accessed when the internal VHF aerial is unplugged. If you wish to connect a CD deck or MP3 player via the gram socket, the quality of sound is very good.
