A beautiful, vintage 1962 "Conqueror" Sculptured Chess Set by artist Peter Ganine and Pacific Games Co. in exellent condition. Complete, large 32 piece figural chess set features a medieval court in a severe "Deco-gothic" styling, that adds a stern appearance to the figures(appropriate to the medieval era). Pieces are molded in bone(white) & ebony(black) hard plastic- heavy weighted with felted bottoms(all weights & felts are attached). Large kings measure 4 & 3/4 inches tall. Each piece is marked: "Peter Ganine- 1962, USA" on the rear bases. No chips or cracks. Folding "wood look"(heavy cardboard) Pressman chessboard is a substitute, but does go very well with the set. Includes the original rules booklet, a short biography on the artist/sculptor Peter Ganine, and the original quality inspection notice from "Phyllis Edgerly", Customer Service Rep. of Pacific Game Company, N. Hollywood, CA. Box is in very good condition, featuring a cut-out window on the lid to display the pieces below, fitted onto a colorful medieval interior scene(banners & throne). As a bonus, I'm including a nice, 213 pg. chess book- "Teach Yourself Chess" by Bill Hartson, like new. Includes all official chess rules and also elementary tactics, opening play, strategic planning, theory and compositions. Shipping calculated below(Parcel Post). Paypal payment only- read more
