Super rare 1950's Merrythought dressed cat with black felt suit and red cape. This rare and very unusual dressed cat was made by Merrythought in the 1950'sand is a standing cat with jointed arms and head and is made from black mohairand dressed in a black felt suit with a red felt cape. I have never seen anotherMerrythought cat quite like this and I can't find any reference to him and I wonder if he may have been a promotional toy or for a shop window display. He is 12" tall from the soles of his feet to the tips of his ears with a black mohair body, velvet ears and inset glass eyes on a moulded, painted face. He is wearingblack felt trousers and jacket and a white rexine bib with a red painted sash. He also has a red felt cape with cream felt lining and cream velvet gloves witha little bit silver and gold trim on his cape and bib. His foot pads are also velvetand he has his 'Merrythought Ironbridge Shropshire Made in England' label onhis left foot, which dates him to the 1950's.He has all his original features intact and is in very good/excellent condition with just a small amount of playwear which includes a couple of small holes in the lining of the cape and very small rubs on the soles of his feet and his rexine bib.This is a very unusual Merrythought cat toy and I have never seen another like him in all my years of collecting read more
