VINTAGE ANTIQUE CZECH PLATES COBALT, GOLD - EPIAG D.F. CZECHOSLOVAKIA CARLSBAD These two stunning and highly collectible plates were made in Carlsbad, Czechoslovakia. They feature a very deep - almost black - cobalt blue background with plenty of gold trim and (what looks like hand) painting. In the center is a colorful illustration of three Greek style nymphs. They are marked "EPIAG D.F. CZECHOSLOVAKIA, CARLSBAD." Each plate is approximately 9-1/2" in diameter. They are both in excellent condition, having only been used for display. All the gold is intact, as is the center picture, but there are some tiny surface scratches.I cannot date these plates with any accuracy. Although I found the mark online, even the experts had trouble determining which dates it was used. They are either antiques from the mid-to-late 1940s (I have an extensive collection of Czech china and glass from that period, all of which have the same style of figurative decor), or they were purchased by my uncle who made several trips to Eastern Europe in the 1970s.
