You are looking at a vintage 3" socket slick chisel made in the USA by The Douglass Mfg. Co. This piece is very lightly marked on the face of the chisel with the "glass MFG " portion of the mark. It is readable on the top of the ridge near the handle socket, where Douglass typically marked them. The beveled top is also a Douglass trait. This piece measures 3" across the cutting edge, which has no dings or digs, and from tip to top of socket is 12" with a 15 1/4" hardwood handle for a total length of 27 1/4". The handle on this piece is in very good condition with splits or cracks, and the finish is good. A previous owner stamped his initials into the handle, but they do not catch the eye. The metal on the slick does show usage and some wear, but a very nice piece for the collector or the enthusiast.
