PUT A TIGER IN YOUR TANK! Offered for your consideration is a Vintage gas station ESSO sign that used to sit on top of the giant sign pole in front of the old Standard Oil Esso gas station up until the early 70's! Included is the two-piece aluminum frame that could easily be used to hang the ESSO sign on the wall. Imagine backlighting with flourescent lights, this would make a real conversation piece in a bar, restaurant, 50's burger joint, barn, auto repair shop, you name it! Measures 6 feet tall by 8 feet wide by 1/4" thick. Made of some type of plastic, styrene perhaps, sturdy yet somewhat flexible. I remember watching Standard Oil change out the ESSO sign to the renamed and now all too familiar EXXON sign in late 1971 / early 1972, which makes this, at the very least, 36 years old and most likely much, much older! I recall the sign installers at the time claiming that the new name EXXON had no literal translation or meaning in any language. The ESSO sign is too large for me to attempt packaging or shipping so this will be available for local pick up only in Wayne, NJ. 07470 Being strapped down gently, would easily transport with no problem in 8 foot pickup bed, hanging over the side just a bit.
