Excellent example of Vintage "Flower Madonna", 9.5" Hummel #10/1 TMK-2(Trade Mark-2 is the second earliest trade mark used in production of this figurine by Franz Goebel) C1950 Germany Full Bee.History:Berta Hummel of Bavaria who later became Sister Maria Innocentia (hence MI Hummel) began drawing figures, especially those of children, after attending the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich, Germany. An agreement with Franz Goebel in 1935 granted his company W Goebel Porzellanfabrik the right to produce figurines based on MI Hummel’s voluminous drawings. T he first figurines were produced in 1935 and continued until 2008. Servicemen, mostly American GI’s in Germany, purchased Hummels from their Military PX to send home to wives and girlfriends giving Goebel/Hummel the start of their popularity.Condition is remarkable. There are no chips or cracks but you may find some dust. This Hummel has been kept in a china cabinet since early 50s. I have not attempted to clean her...I leave this to the buyer.
