Man's First Lunar Landing Art Medal "That's one small step for a man - A giant leap for mankind." This is a great Art Medal to commemorate the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing of July 20, 1969. The obverse of the Apollo 11 Bronze Medal features portraits of the three mission astronauts, Neil A. Armstrong, Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. and Michael Collins. Also appearing are the words Apollo 11 and the NASA patch. The reverse of the Apollo 11 MEDAL depicts the LM Eagle, at rest on the Sea of Tranquility on the Moon's surface. Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. can be seen beside the LEM as they conduct the specimen gathering and other scientific missions on the lunar surface. The United States flag, planted by Armstrong can be see just to the left of the Eagle. The Earth, approximately a quarter of a million miles distant, can be seen over the horizon. The inscription reads: "Man's First Lunar Landing. July 20-21, 1969". Ralph J. Menconi, the noted sculptor, produced the Apollo 11 Medal for Presidential Art Medals, Inc., of Englewood, Ohio. This Medal, struck by Medallic Art Company of New York City is the bronze unnumbered issue. It measures almost 2 1/2 inches in diameter, and is quite heavy. The condition is good. There are some nicks in the rim, where someone has tested it to insure it is bronze. It is Bronze - not gold! And read more
