This auction is for a delightful old glass, covered candy dish, c.1920's, overlaid with a silver band depicting golfers in four different scenes. The cover features a man, woman and their caddy, with the man at the top of his swing, in the follow-through position and two different putting positions. T are etched lines in a circular pattern surrounding the finial, accented by a cobalt stripe which is actually on the underside of the cover. The finial on the cover is also finished with silver overlay but does show some wear. The outside of the dish has vertical etched lines finished with an overlaid silver band at the rim. This dish is fairly large, with a diameter of 7 3/4" and measuring 5" to the top of the finial. The base is 1 3/4" deep. Overall condition of this whimsical dish is excellent. T is minor wear to the silver overlay and the bottom shows wear consistant with age and use. T are two teeny nicks on the inner surface of the base which in no way affect the smoothness of the base's surface. They are extremely small but I didn't want them to go unmentioned for the sake of accuracy. This is really a stunning dish and would make a wonderful gift for that golfer in your life, or if golfing is your love, treat yourself!!!
