Vintage Identi-Kitfor Police Identification of Criminals This is an original version of the "Identi-Kit" that was manufactured in by the Townsend Corporation before being purchased by Smith & Wesson. The kit includes over 100 acetate sheets with drawings of different facial features that were used to identify criminals based on eyewitness accounts. The sheets include a wide array of lips, noses, eyes, eyebrows, age lines, hair, beards, glasses, and headgear. They were laid on top of each other to create a final reconstruction of the perpetrator’s face. The acetate sheets are in excellent condition. The wooden box is in very good condition, but the metal attachments for the handle are corroded. The cover of handbook is slightly worn, but the images contained within are in extremely good condition. This is a rare and unusual piece that will be an interesting addition to a collection of vintage police memorabilia.
