Vintage Katana Japanese Military Style Sword Up for auction we have a fully functional, vintage Japanese Miltary type sword in good condition. Sword has a push button release to remove it from the scabbard which lock it firmly in place. Auction includes steel scabbard. Handle is cord wrapped over same` and wood. See photos for details. I have never used this sword for anything but display. Sword measures 40 inches overall with a sharp blade of 27 inches. The cord wrapping on the handle is black in color. The scabbard is a typical army green paint and has some scratches. Quality, hand folded steel blade with hada (grain) evident. No staining or rust evident. Brass tsuba with floral pattern. Blade has been freshly oiled. This is not one of those cheap stainless half tang toys. This is a real, full tang sword capable of inflicting serious harm. Sword is by no means perfect, but that is part of the appeal of a vintage sword. If you want perfect t are plenty of machine made reproductions to be had out t I hate to part with this sword but I will have a new addition to my family soon so I have to start clearing out things both for making room and the sake of safety.
