Rare Kellogg "Steerhorn Hook" Picture Frame Front Cathedral Top (PFFCT) Quarter Sawed Oak Wood Wall Telephone. This phone is not refinished and is in the condition it was in when removed from service. Originally this phone would have been constructed around 1905 to 1910, and likely was "in service" continuously until later in the 20th century. It undoubtedly served many customers in it's 75+ years of service usage. This model is rare in that it has a "steerhorn Switchook" which is a vestige from prior years (1890s) when most wood wall phones had these pointed hooks, so named for their resemblance to a Steer's horns. By the turn of the 20th century most wood phones had been equipped with the so called "Loop hooks", that have a circular hole at the end of each side of the switchook. This particular phone has a great Transmitter Arm with original gold pin striping around the cloverleaf base perimeter and the Faceplate that is marked: KELLOGG along with a properly lettered transmitter cup. The old mouthpiece has a slight chip on the lip, but it displays perfectly. I can see that the magneto has been replaced over the years (likely the result of a lightning storm), but the period mag, that is installed, works perfectly.
