Offered for auction is a wonderful vintage porcelain figurine by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory. The Lomonosov Porcelain Factory was St.Petersburg's first porcelain factory, founded in 1744 by decree of the Russian Queen Yelizaveta, daughter of Peter 1. The Factory had ties to the Russian Royal Family and as a result produce the highest quality porcelain. This wonderfully kitsch "Fox and Beaver" Figurine dates to the early 1950's. It features a Beaver dressed in a plaid patterned coat with a Russian hat and large briefcase. The Fox is wearing a lovely green coat with fur trim. It has a matching hat and a white and gold gilt purse. The figurine is quite whimsical with the animals portrayed as human. The figurine is hand painted and in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It measures 4 ½ inches tall and 3 ¼ inches wide at the widest point. The bottom is marked with the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory mark. As a piece from the 1950's, this was produced in the USSR just after the end of WWII and the imposing of the Iron Curtain. This is a fabulous figurine for anyone's collection and displays beautifully. Thanks for your bid!
