VINTAGE MABIE TODD SWAN SELF-FILLER SM112B/85FOUNTAIN PEN ~ Stunning Reddish Brown Snake-Skin Black Veined Patterning ~ ~ Crisp Imprint ~ Self Filler SF ~ 14ct Swan #1 Solid Gold Nib ~ Circa 1940s ~ ~ New Ink Sac Fitted ~ Serviced ~ Nice Overall Condition ~ SUMMARY Up here for auction is a vintage Mabie Todd Swan Self-filler SM112B/85 fountain pen, which was manufactured in England circa 1940s. The pen is in nice condition, pretty glossy body in RED BROWN SNAKE-SKIN BLACK VEINED pattern, very attractive and highly collectible pattern. The pen is superbly detailed, with 'SWAN' signature all around . On the top of the cap is a 'SWAN' logo embossed. The imprint is impressive, with the model number embossed at the end of the barrel. The pen bears a Swan #1 14ct solid gold nib. A new ink sac has been fitted to the pen. The self-filler system is in perfect working order. The pen has been serviced and tested for its full functionality. Only there are very minor wear due to age; and slight discoloration on the section. This stylish Swan is a fine example of Mabie Todd - The persuit of excellence. This Swan is a classic elegance and has been produced to the highest standards of carftsmanship. This would make an excellent gift to treat yourself or for someone special . Around 1878, the company began its production of fountain pens. The 'Swan' pen trademark is first adopted in 1884. In 1909 production of pens is begun in England and the tradmark 'Swan, the pen of the British Empire' comes into use. Eventually, 'Swan' became another word for 'pen' in the popular lexicon. Around 1923, the firm began production of its line of 'Eternal' pens, featured the lever fillers. These were very solid and well made pens, with several attractive colours available. Till now, Swan fountain pens are highly sought after by collectors around the world.
