VINTAGE 1948 MCCOY SHELL PLANTER Image #1 Image #2 Image #3 Image #4 Featured in this auction is a GREAT find. A vintage McCoy shell planter in the color peach or coral. Documented on page 219 of the Encyclopedia of McCoy pottery by Sanford as 1948. This was made in two sizes and this is the larger 8" size. Measures 8 inches long by 6 inches to the top of the handle. Well marked McCoy on the bottom and guaranteed to be original McCoy and not a reproduction! It is in excellent condition, clean with NO chips, cracks or hairlines--a small interior fissure at the bottom, from firing in the kiln. Expect the usual glaze characteristics of early McCoy... clusters of pin point flea bites or uneven glaze flow but part of the making and not flaws. Strong mold detail.
