The Scientific MERCURY SR . was a tremendously popular 72" span old time free flight for big .60 ignition engines back in the 1930s and 40s. Any good .25 would be fine today. It was also converted to u-control when that control method first came out in the 1940s. I'll never forget as a boy of 13 seeing this big cub-like MERCURY SR. cruising the u-control circle doing touch-and-go landings on its Trexler balloon tires! What a thrill that was then! The picture of a boy holding his MERCURY Sr. was on the cover of an old, old Air Trails magazine.I am offering nice copies of the original plans and patterns. The two plans are so big that could not get a good picture of them so I have shown a picture of a plan that appeared on a page in an old Model Builder magazine. However, you will be getting a good full-size copy of the Scientific kit PLANS and patterns. This model is ideal for RC conversion, but be sure to add hardwood spars in the wing to handle the higher stress of RC flights.
