My overall on this one is MINT (which I do not use too often like some other sellers out t COLLECTOR QUALITY . Think: This type of tool is not being made anymore due to changes in steel manufacture and this old steel is far better than the new, overall. This is one of several chisels and gouges we have listed at this time. Some of our listings will only be 3 or 5 day auctions so please check frequently if you wish to see all that come thru. A maker who partnered up with JB ADDIS if t are any doubts as to quality. Measurements: A New 9 5/8" OA, 1/8" across at edge, a generous 4 7/16" of steel from edge to handle entry. Steel: Fine/Mint for the carver or builder, old high-Carbon material, great, will clean easily enough, ready for your edge. If you are like me, I would handle this as due course anyway. Handle: is 'as-new', Original, no splits or chips, (Beech?), no former owner stamp/s or markings (rare on such an expensive tool but gives credence to this as New-Old-Stock).
