Up for auction is a gorgeous Nancy Ann Storybook Doll "SOUTHERN BELLE" #57 from the American Girl Series. She is in beautiful original condition and in her correctly labeled pink box with white dots, neck brace, and early booklet. I believe she is from around 1940-41. This doll has a pudgy tummy, and molded socks. The doll looks to be in excellent condition with no scuffs, cracks, or breaks. There is one scuff on her left black shoe which I've shown in the pictures. Her all original facial coloring is beautiful, as is her wig which is long and shows no breakage. The outfit is bright and beautiful with no fading, spots, or tears. She has a separate long slip and pantaloons, all in great condition. Underneath her beautiful straw hat she has a black ribbon tied in the front of her hair. I had a separate gold foil wrist tag that was for Southern Belle 57 and I've loosely put it around her wrist. I'll leave it up to the new owner whether or not to use it as I'm not sure if it is correct for this molded sock doll. You can find a picture and description of this doll in Pardee/Robertson book "Encyclopedia of Bisque Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls 1936-1947" on page 61.
