This neat old lithopane lamp has a paper tag on the bottom which reads NASCO, STONEHAM WARE JAPAN. The lamp is probably 40 or so years old {1970s}. Lithopane lamps are rather rare and hard to find. The owl lamp is thin porcelain. When the light is on it shines out highlighting the thinner parts of the porcelain and the glass eyes, and makes the lamp look dimensional. The owl lamp is in very good condition. I see no cracks, chips or repairs. T are some casting and glazing flaws. I see a 1 inch shrinkage line which is not opened on one of the owls shoulder. T are some glaze skips including one just above the owls beak, see photos. T is some wear to the gold highlights on the book the owl is standing on. The light has 2 vent holes in the top to let heat out. It has a nonplarized plug and should be checked by a qualified electrician for safety. It does work but may need a new bulb after mailing as filiments are very fragile in light bulbs. The lamp could use a cleaning. I have left it as I aquired it. Measurements are 6 3/4 inches tall.
