Beautiful Italian bowl backed mandolin by fine maker Ferdinando Lapini of Napoli from the golden age of the mandolin.Beautiful mother of pearl inlay around the sound hole, marquetry around the edge and once belonged to Captain Corelli.(OK - so I made the last bit up).Inside label reads:Ferdinando LapiniFabricanteStrumenti ArmoniciNapoliPlease refer to the photos for condition. Crucially, there are no splits to the bowl back as is so often seen. However there is evidence of restoration to the neck at the back. It looks as though there has been a gouge to the wood that has been filled. The integrity of the mandolin is not affected.Overall in good vintage condition, but it is over 100 years old so there are scuffs to the rim, surface marks etc. Please don't expect it to be brand new.Plays very nicely.
