Classic Vintage Collector's Plate Multi-Color Hand Tinted on White Background Approximately 10.5 inches in Diameter Vernon Kilns "Ultra" Rim Form Excellent Condition by Vernon Kilns, California Pottery Los Angeles, California circa 1940's Signed under glaze by renowned Vernon Kilns artist: CAVETT This is a great, old Nebraska State decorative plate from Vernon Kilns. According to Bill Stern (2001), Vernon Kilns was one of the well known "Big Five" of the Southern California Pottery group (p. 42, California Pottery: From Missions to Modernism ). The plate depicts a wide variety of classic Nebraskan scenes (please see photos below) including: State Capitol Building, Lincoln Colonel William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) home, North Platte OLD Fort Kearney Parade Grounds (from "old sketch") George P.
