Antique Calendar Clock Up for bids is this interesting Horton patent perpetual calendar clock made by the original Ithaca Calendar Clock Company of Ithaca, New York, which made clocks in that city from 1865 until 1918. In 1981 a new company of that name was established in Freeville, New York, but this isn't one of theirs. I don't know the date of manufacture, but it was made sometime prior to 1919. The piece is 26 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 5 1/4 inches front-to-back. The clock includes a pendulum counterweight, but t is no winding key. Suitable keys are widely available, however. This clock is heavy and delicate. We would not wish to ship this item except via fully insured UPS Special Handling, which may exceed $80. We strongly recommend the buyer pick-up at our Statesville, NC location. Please email any questions. This is the Date-Day-Month dial. The movement automatically compensates for leap years. The decorative top evidently cracked sometime during its history and was glued back in place. One can see the repair in better detail Note the construction and the use of nails instead of screws to secure the mouldings. The wood appears to be American walnut.
