VINTAGE PETERS & REED MOSS AZTEC STYLE SHRINERS COMMEMORATIVE BOWL! Nice estate collection piece...Peters & Reed Pottery was established by John D. Peters and Adam Reed in 1899. Peters and Reed's first recognized art pottery line Moss Aztec was introduced in 1912 and was developed by Frank Ferrell. They sold their business in 1921 to Zane Pottery, at which time Zane started to mark the pieces with their own name. Previous to that time, there were no marks on the Peters & Reed pieces. I can find no information on their making of this commemorative Shriners or Masonic bowl. Marked with the slogan "A Ray of Hope", it contains the Masonic symbols of the rayed sun and temple within. Embossed trees along with a woman and two children walking complete the images that surround the bowl. Marked with the name Northwestern Council, and a number 72, I don't know if the number refers to a year, area or council chapter. No chips or hairlines. Some general age and usage interior markings...should clean away should you choose to do so. Measures in at 6 & 1/2" wide at the rim, and stands 4 & 3/4" tall.
