VERY RARE AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE VINTAGE ROBINSON RANSBOTTOM SAILOR WHALE COOKIE JAR Fully marked and in excellent condition, this is a vintage 1959 Robinson Ransbottom Pottery "Whale" Cookie Jar. A glazed ceramic cookie jar depicting grinning white whale with sailor cap lid. Seen in old catalogs as shape #1506, it is decorated underglaze and appears unused. Free of cracks and crazing. There is one very small chip on the tip of one of the tail fins, which is almost unnoticeable. There are a couple of pinpoint misfires on one side of the face (see photos) and one on the underside of the hat (see photos), but this is typical and minor factory character. Jar is incised on bottom “R.R.P. CO. Roseville, O. USA.” Measuring 8" tall and 9.5" long, this piece is considered the "Holy Grail" of Ransbottom cookie jars, so it will fly insured, via Priority Mail.
