Featured in this auction is a beautiful flower or bud vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. This piece is 5-1/4" tall, 3" wide at the widest part, and 2" wide at the rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark; however, glaze drips on the base that have been ground to level the piece have obscured certain production marks. Based on what is visible, I would say that the production year is most likely 1919 or 1920 (XIX or XX). The shape number is not visible. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful piece of Rookwood with an arts-and-crafts design of geometric panel details encircling the vase. This beautiful glaze is a matte blue underglaze with a darker, indigo overdrip that has curdled on the vase. The vase does show some minor scuffing and small scratches from gentle use along with glaze skips and pinholes. On the interior, there is also evidence of mineral staining. Check out all 7 photos! This lovely little vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.
