Vintage Santa Clara Pottery by Barbara Martinez, Miniature Native American Pot with an Avanyu, Water Serpent. This pot is in good vintage condition, it has some scratches & wear to the polish & 2 chips on the very bottom. It's signed Barbara Martinez, Santa Clara Pueblo. This is a miniature pot measuring 2 1/8" across & 1 1/2" high. It is highly polished black Santa Clara pot with an Avanyu, water serpent design wrapped around it. Barbara Martinez "Jo-Povi" Cactus Flower was born into the Santa Clara-Tewa Pueblo in 1947. Inspired by her Mother, Flora Naranjo, she began making pottery in 1965, when she was 18 years old. She is related to the following artists: Vickie Martinez (daughter), Chris Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Sammy Naranjo (sons) & Glenda Naranjo (sister). This is a classic Santa Clara Pueblo pot, perfect for any Native American pottery collector.
