Vintage Serviced Esterbrook Blue LJ (Slender) Double Jewel Fountain Pen with Broad Stub NibPage Item DescriptionManufacturer: Esterbrook. Model: LJ (Slender) Double Jewel Condition: Excellent. History : Esterbrook manufactured the Double Jewel as the third version of their famous J range of pens. The LJ was one of three variants offered. The full sized J, the SJ (Demi) and this model the LJ (Slender). This particular pen dates from late 1940's to early 1950's. Nib: 2284 which represents FIRM BROAD STUB . Nib Markings: ESTERBROOK, 2284, Made in USA. Barrel Color: Beautiful Blue with Silver color lever and contrasting Black section. Barrel Markings: ESTERBROOK R (Registered Trade Mark), MADE IN USA Cap Color: Blue with Silver Clip stamped Esterbrook and a Silver 3 ribbed cap band. Cap Threads: Work flawlessly. Jewels: Two, one on cap, one on barrel. Capped Measurement: 5 1/8". Posted Measurement: 6". Filling System: Lever fill. Any Issues: None whatsoever to the best of my knowledge and observations. Service/Restoration Details: Cleaned and polished. Sac replaced, Nib and section removed and cleaned and finally tested for functionality. Other Comments: Beautiful Blue coloration and wonderful BROAD STUB nib. A classic and timeless looking design, buy it for its color and more than that buy it for its nib!!! Mint: New and unused will nearly always be in the original box and will be good enough to be what I would call collectors condition. Near Mint: New like in appearence, will have been inked and maybe used but has been cared for with the utmost care has little to no marking whatsoever. Excellent: Will have some signs of usage but is FULLY FUNCTIONAL and will load ink via whatever method it uses and write. It retains all the original parts with the possible exception of a new ink sac, it will have no dents, no gouges and no cracks. It will probably have minor scratching due to usage. Very Good: The pen will have been well used and shows general wear overall caused by normal use with small scratching and perhaps some brassing. It will be FULLY FUNCTIONAL and will load ink via whatever method it uses and write. It will have no dents, gouges or major imperfections. Good: A pen that has been well used. There will be some wear and tear however it will be FULLY FUNCTIONAL and will load ink via whatever method it uses and write.
