Offered is this delicately embossed vintage Sterling Silver Chalice - Ciborium - with gold plated cup. The lip rim is is 2-1/4 inches in diameter and is approximately 2 inches tall. The bottom of the pedestal base is also 2-1/2 inches in diameter. This petite Chalice 4 inches tall and retains it's original patina. A little hand buffing or some polish will bring back it's original glow. A delicate series of embossings accentuate the base, pedestal and lower lip rim. The neck of the chalice is simply detailed with exquisitely detailed beading in the center. The top of the base forms a "well" to catch any driplets of wine that may fall during use. The bottom is stamped "Sterling" with a "90" stamped below. Above the sterling stamp are the following Hallmarks: a Lion, an Anchor and what appears to be the letters "TB". This travel size Chalice belonged to the Rt. Reverand Msgr. William W. Ridgeway, STD who was the brother of one of our parishioners. He, at one time many years ago, was the priest at St. Georges Parish, Falmouth, Maine. It is our parishioner's wish that the proceeds of this auction be made payable directly to the North Pownal (Maine) United Methodist Church. Tfore sales tax will not apply to this item.
