This is a great Estate discovery. I found an old Drueke chess set but water had damaged the box and board but these old wooden Drueke Chess Men were still in the original packing and unharmed. I actually had to cut the package open to take the photos because the bag's exterior was so yellowed. The pieces are beautiful and free of any damage with the exception of one Rook that has a chip at the top (see close-up photo) ironically there was no chip in the bag so I have to assume it was originally packed that way. All of the men are felted and the felt is perfect. The pieces are not weighted except for one dark pawn and one light pawn (I'm not quite sure why only one pawn of each color is weighted). The dark pieces appear to look like walnut and the light men possibly maple or birch. Thank you for reviewing my auction.
