READ ON PLEASE From the 1940's through the 1960's and beyond, one of Stetson's most iconic models was the Open Road, a broad-brimmed hat with a Western flair. The best compromise between a tame urban fedora and a rootin'-tootin' cowboy hat, it was a favorite of both urbanites and rustics throughout the South and West, and even several U.S. Presidents were known for wearing the Open Road. The '50s-era Stetson you're looking at has the trademark features of the Open Road INCLUDING the NAME. The soft fur felt is classic color, and the generous 2 1/2" brim is bound in golden tan grosgrain ribbon trim, with a matching 3/8" hatband. The pinch-front crown stands 4 7/8" tall. The hat is also endowed with a wind trolley cord, that button-on-an-elastic-string that tethers the hat to your buttonhole so that blustery winds don't sail the hat off your head. The interior is lined in shimmering ivory satin, with the '50s-style Stetson crest under a protective layer of clear plastic.
