The little bit of information that I have been able to find is that this was an advertising pocket mirror for Straus, Gunst & Co., Richmond, Va. I found one article somew on the web which gave information that this company was in business after the Civil War and closed in the early 1900's. I don't know if all this information is correct or not. This pocket mirror is oval in shape and depicts a full grown 'Tom Turkey'. On one side it says 'TURKEY GIN' and on the right side "Choice in Quality _____Convincing in Taste_______Straus, Gunst & Co._____Richmond, Va. The colors are bright and detail is in great shape. On the back, the mirror is intact but does have aging spots in several places. I assume that the main part is celluloid and in one small place the following is printed: Bastian Bros. Co. Rochester, N.Y. Overall size is 1 3/4 inches by a little over 2 /34 inches in length. This has always been a favorite of mine. and one of my favorite advertising items.
