2 Volume Book - The Life of James McNeill Whistler - Pennell - 1909 - 4th Ed. The Life of James McNeill Whistler In 2 Volumes E.R. and J. Pennell J.B. Lippincott Company 1909 This auction is for a two-volume 4th edition of "The Life of James McNeill Whistler". The books were written by E.R. and J. Pennell and published by Lippincott Co. in 1909. The books are generally in very fine condition but Volume 2 was gnawed away on the lower right corner by some critter. The books contain over 160 illustrations, some of which are lithographs and others engravings where you can see the plate marks. Other than the chewed away area the books are in great shape with firm bindings, supple pages, minimal tanning. Most importantly, the images of Whistler's work are in excellent condition. Interestingly enough, the book has a number of pages that were not split, so anyone wanting to see some of the images or listing of prints may have to cut the page. I'm not sure how clear this is, but I took a picture of one of those non-split pages. Domestic Shipping Shipping charges within the Continental U.S. are calculated via USPS Media Mail.
