You are bidding on a large heavy white with a blue and brown stripe around edge of platter. This has got to be amazing that is still around. On the back it stamped MADE ESPECIALLY FOR OCEAN VIEW HOTEL 1916 BY MAX SCHWAN INC. It is also embossed ( it looks like ) American Made China. I think the date is correct that is what it looks like to me and my husband. It weighs over 5 lbs. I don't see any chips or cracks. There are some imperfections in the glaze. Around the edge it looks a little dirty but I wouldn't scrub too hard did not want to mess up glaze. It does show normal wear with some scratches but who wouldn't at that age. It measure approx.. 17 inches long and 11 1/2 inches across. Please check out photos and ask questions if you need to. I did some research about finding the location of this Ocean View hotel. Since the Max Schwan was on it when looking I found a vintage postcard for Norfolk Virginia that showed his office there. I also found vintage postcards of Ocean View Hotel and I think the amusement park was really close to it. I remember Ocean View Park, I went there as a small child. The dates would match, because I think this hotel was built in the late 1880's. To me this is a great piece of history and I would like to think someone would love to preserve it.
