Up for auction is this incredible piece of WATERFORD crystal!! This is a work of art! This piece would retail for OVER $750 if you could find one. This WATERFORD vase is from the WATERFORD Designers Gallery. It is titled 'Vivaldi Vase - The Four Seasons.' It is an original work of art designed by John Whelan for the Designers Gallery by Waterford Crystal. "The Four Seasons Vase was inspired by the beauty of the changing seasons in the countryside around Whelan's home and his love of music. Vivaldi's famous Le Quattro Stagione (The Four Seasons), finds a wonderful new expression in this magnificent square vase." This vase is the square shape, which must be "static" blown. It is one of the most difficult to produce. Individual panels of the Vivaldi Vase represent each of the four seasons. Ths Spring panel has cutting rosettes to denote new growth releasing itself from the earth, which is represented by rows of diamonds. The Summer panel has cuts emanating from the centre ball representing a sunburst radiating outward across the heavens. Autumn has downward cuts to depict falling leaves and Winter is represented by long olive cuts. Continuous bands cuts around the top and bottom of the vase to bind the four seasond together.
