This is a super nice... Westmoreland Glass Company marked... Hen on a Nest. It sets about 4 1⁄4 inches tall... 5 1⁄2 inches long.... 4 1⁄4 inches wide... and appears to be in perfect condition. This Hen is the âeoesplit tailâe type... which is much more desirable than the âeoeflat tailâe style. The Hen carries the Westmoreland mark on the inside bottom... and the Nest is marked on the underside bottom and also in the inside bottom. We find both the early and the latter Westmoreland marks on the Nest... but only the later mark on the Hen. Our Hen is an electrifying shade of Yellow Vaseline Glass. But what makes this delightful âeoegalâe even more exciting... is her Snowy White Milk Glass Head. Producing glassware with multiple colors has always been a time consuming... hands on operation. In this case it required the glass workers to retrieve the White Milk Glass from one furnace... and place a small amount into the up-turned mold... while a second worker gatd the Vaseline Glass from a second furnace... which he then in turn placed just the right amount into the mold to complete the operation. The Base for our Hen is in the âeoeBasket Weaveâe pattern... and is again that elusive Vaseline Glass.
