This item is being offered for spares or repair as some of the notes are not playing and the case is scruffy. Wife forces sale. This is a “Hybrid” style Yamaha Grand digital which has a Yamaha roller grand action giving a conventional grand piano feel with wooden keys, double repetition and aftertouch etc which works by means of the Yamaha Silent system to create the sound rather than having a soundboard and strings. Please note that this model is not fitted with a self play/Disklavier mechanism. The case is almost identical to a Yamaha GB-1 acoustic grand piano and looks elegant. .I have tested the piano by connecting a keyboard in to the ‘MIDI in’ socket and every note plays perfectly. The sampling is absolutely superb and the powerful amplifier and speaker system produces a fantastic piano tone All working fine. There is also a line in socket which is preamped for use with a microphone. There is a range of other samples too but to access these the whole keyboard must be working or you may be able to access them by using different MIDI channels. (Not sure how this works). The Fault: Some of the keys do not make a sound. This occurs randomly throughout the compass of the keyboard and is particularly a problem in the tenor and top treble section. The casework has many chips and scratches so I suspect this instrument has come out of a music venue and has had some beer spilt in it which has caused the notes not to play. It seems to have only affected the grand keyboard as it works fine when using it with a MIDI controlled device. . All of the leg bolts are present, the music desk is intact but one of the lyre bolts is missing (Pedals) The lyre seems to hold perfectly well with one bolt and this does not affect the use of the Sustain, Sostenuto or Una-Corda pedals. All of these seem to work fine. This is a standard Yamaha Grand lyre bolt and would be available as a spare part from YAMAHA UK. The full Yamaha GT7 technical manual is available on line as is the user manual. It would be worth having a look at these if you are interested because it gives the full specification of the instrument. Approx: Weight: 174KG Length: 4 ft 11ins This piano would be a beautiful display item played by a laptop, a successful repair would give you a fantastic digital piano with many features, The scruffy case would lend itself to studio use. I know these GT7’s cost thousands and thousands to buy and I have never seen a UK one on Ebay before. Repairs should only be undertaken by qualified personnel as it carries high voltages. Or you could fill it full of top soil and plant it out and have a novelty garden planter that would make you the envy of all the neighbours.
