This is a true first printing of the first Wild Cards book, edited by George R. R. Martin and published by Bantam in 1987. It is in good condition only due to edgewear and very light corner creasing. The book has been signed by five of the contributors: George R. R. Martin, Walter Jon Williams, Howard Waldrop, Melinda M. Snodgrass and John J. Miller. From the back: There is a secret history of the world - a history in which an alien virus struck the Earth in the aftermath of World War II, endowing a handful of survivors with strange superhuman powers. Some were called Aces - gifted with extraordinary mental and physical abilities. Others are Jokers - cursed with bizarre mental or physical disfigurements. Some turned their talents to the service of humanity. Others used them for evil. This is their story. Contents: Prologue (Wild Cards I) by George R. R.
