This is a rare first edition copy of Wild Life on the Plains and Horrors of Indian Warfare , by General G. A. Custer, Sun Publishing Co., St. Louis, MO. 1883.The title page continues: With a Graphic Account of His Last Fight on the Little Big Horn, as Told by his Wily Foe Sitting Bull. Also, Sketches and Anecdotes of the Most Renowned Guides, Scouts and Plainsmen of the West. Profusely Illustrated. General Crook and the Apaches. The book is complete, and the despite some foxing and age-tanning, the pages are clean and unmarked. The only page issues are: one page is dog-eared, and the illustrated page 267 has a large tear. The boards are plain leather, with gilt title on black on spine, mostly rubbed off. The spine strip and front board have tanning at bottom edge that look to be dampstain, but t is no corresponding dampstain on textblock or even on opposite side of board, and t is no mustiness at all. The binding is poor condition and needs to be rebound. The boards and spine are detached, and the last 5 pages (3 text + 2 blank endpapers) are detached from the textblock, and have some small chips and tears. The blank ffep and portrait page are attached to the front board, and the title page is loose, with small chips and tears, the largest tear being an inch. Even with rebinding, this is a great deal, as the only other first editions read more
