I'm listing a piece that I really thought would never hand in anyone else's home but ours! But since my Japanese Wife's passing, I need to go back to Japan to live with her family, so it's going! This piece was originally a room divider in an old Japanese house. It's beautifully hand carved and measures approximately 60 1/2" long by 19 1/2" tall or width. The actual center with the carving measures 57" by 10" and is in gorgeous undamaged condition! As far as we're able to determine the wood is typical Japanese Mulberry. It has not been touched up or refinished in any way. Each corner was accurately cut to match the adjoining piece and glued. Each corner does have a metal nail to help secure it. I do not know if the nail is original or added later. The carving shows a large sprawling bonzai tree with miniature oriental fans as leaves! At the lower right corner is a "wooden ball" with artists signature and possibly a date. Since my wife's passing, I am no longer able to interpret the old kanji. The reverse side, against the wall is as accurately detailed and fine carved. I fully guarantee the descriptions and authenticity of every piece that I list for auction!
