Wonderful old brass on wood box with brass fixtures. Made after the civil war until after the Great Depression Era, 1870-1930's. During this time frame many men were out of work and became transient searching for anything they could do to make a living. These boxes were created using leftover materials from small jobs they would find and in turn would sell these "Tramp Art" boxes and trinkets. This great domed box measues 8 x 5 x 4 1/2 inches, and is made of wood and covered in patterned brass, then fitted with brass feet, hinges, a closure, and a lid stop on back. Inside is lined with red velvet type material in perfect condition. The box does show some slight age related imperfections as to be expected. Nothing that distracts from its beauty or function.
